About Don Crocker

Managing Partner

After a 40-year career with a wide variety of nonprofits and foundations in the Metropolitan Area and nationally, Don started CadencePace Partners in 2021 with a small group of colleagues to share what they have learned and continue to strengthen the sector.

Nationally known, Don brings his passion, warmth, sense of humor, and numerous stories to any challenge presented by his clients and has developed lifelong relationships with many of them. Applying his ‘life lessons’ as a husband, father, grandfather, and athlete to his professional life, Don is always practical, disciplined, creative, and caring.

The 1970s brought many idealistic young people into the nonprofit sector, and Don was one of them!  Starting in the ‘differently abled’ field, his work evolved to include community development, grant writing, advocacy, teaching, and leadership.

Don Crocker

His last full-time position was as Executive Director/CEO of the Support Center in New York City, where he served for seventeen years, stepping down in December 2015. Not one to kick back and just relax, Don was still drawn to the sector and the continuing challenges its leaders were facing. Since stepping out of the CEO job, Don has been consulting with a select group of clients while envisioning the scope and creating the infrastructure for CadencePace Partners

While experience is the best teacher, Don augments his life lessons with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College and a Master of Science in Leadership and Strategic Management from Manhattanville College.  He also has extensive training from BoardSource, the national organization supporting nonprofit governance.
